Circular issued to inform SC about untoward incident at courts
Dhaka: The Supreme Court on Thursday asked lower courts to inform the SC registrar general office immediately if any untoward incident takes place at any court.
The SC issued a circular in this regard.
Besides, Chief Justice S K Sinha formed a three-member probe committee over vandalism at a courtroom in Chittagong by lawyers following the rejection of bail plea by a magistrate to a lawyer and his wife who were arrested in a human trafficking case.
Registrar General Syed Aminul Islam has been made president of the committee, Sabbir Fayez, additional registrar of the High Court Division as member secretary and Hossain Mohammad Reza, senior Judicial Magistrate of Chittagong, as member.
However, the Chittagong court did not inform the SC authorities about the vandalism incident.
Later, the SC authorities and Chief Justice came to know about the incident from media reports.
The circular said some unexpected incidents have taken place in courtrooms recently. But the lower court has not informed the higher authorities about the incident.
The lower courts have been asked to inform the incident immediately to the SC authorities so that necessary steps can be taken, according to the circular.
