Tension mounts at MMC over suspension of students

As tension mounted at Mymensingh Medical College over the suspension of three students following assaults on a fellow, the students left their dormitories as per the directive of the authorities.
Students left their dormitories in the evening as the authorities asked them to leave their halls by 6:00pm on Monday following tension on the campus, reports UNB.
College sources said Shahidul Islam, a 5th year student of the college and a resident of Baghmara male dormitory, was assaulted by three students-Himel, Anupam Datt and Siam — 2nd year students of the college, over a trifling matter.
Earlier in the day, the authorities concerned of the college suspended the three students for one year after at an emergency meeting held at the college.
Prof Fazlul Haq, vice-chancellor of Mymensingh Medical College, said only those students who do not have any examination were asked to vacate their halls. However, all the classes have been suspended, he said.
