Khulna: A Khulna court on Tuesday convicted two people and sentenced them to life term imprisonment for possessing illegal drugs.

The court also fined the convicts, Ariful Islam Titu and Sohel Reza Babul, both residents of Purbo Banikhamar area of the city, Tk 5,000 each, in default, to suffer three months more in jail.

According to the prosecution, police arrested four people, including Ariful Islam Titu and Sohel Reza Babul, along with 80 bottles of Phensidyl from Shibbari area of the city on August 4, 2012.

Later, a case was filed with Shonadanga Model Police Station.

After examining records and witnesses, District and Session's Judge (Special Division) SM Solaiman handed down the verdict, reports news agency UNB.
