A woman was slaughtered while her nine-month-old daughter was burnt to death at ward no 2 in Pashchim Joynagar union of Daulatkhan upazila of Bhola on Saturday morning.

The deceased are Shahnaj, 30, wife of Billal, and her daughter Mohna.

Police arrested Billal who is now undergoing treatment at Bhola Sadar Hospital under police custody.

Locals spotted charred bodies of Shahnaj and her daughter in the morning and informed the police, said Enayet Hossain, officer-in-charge of Daulatkhan Police Station.

Police recovered the bodies and later noticed that Shahnaj’s body was slaughtered.

Police primarily suspected that Billal slaughtered her wife to death and set fire to the room for staging the murder as ‘fire incident’.

Shahnaj’s nine-month-old daughter was burnt alive in the fire.
