JP to contest 300 seats; candidate list not finalised yet
Dhaka: Jatiya Party on Saturday said they are preparing to contest the upcoming national election in all the 300 constituencies but is yet to finalise the list of possible candidates.
"Some media ran stories on the list of JP's candidates for the upcoming national election. These stories are imaginary ones ...such media reports are confusing," said Sunil Shuvo Roy, press and political secretary of JP Chairman HM Ershad in a press statement.
Shuvo, however, said the JP has collected names and bio-data of those who are eager to take part in the national election with JP tickets.
He said their names have been stored in the centre through district committees.
The final list will be prepared after interviewing those intending candidates by the Jatiya Party parliamentary board, he added.
"So, there should be no confusion regarding the candidate list finalisation," the JP press secretary added.
