Police recovered the bodies of a couple from the septic tank of their house on Thursday afternoon in Rasulpur area of Sadar upazila in Tangail.

The deceased are Anil Kumar Das, 68, a retired teacher of Basirunnessa High School and his wife Kalpana Rani Das, 57, reports the UNB.

Assistant superintendent of police (Tangail circle) Gobinda Chandra Pal said the couple had been living in the house alone as their son works in Dhaka and daughter lives abroad.

As neighbours found all the doors and windows of the couple’s house open in the morning, they entered the house and found none of them.

After searching, they found the bodies in the septic tank around 1 am and informed police.

Later, police recovered the bodies with rope around their necks and brick tied up with their legs, he said.
