Former lawmaker, industrialist Harunur Rashid Monno dies
Manikganj: Former lawmaker and industrialist Harunur Rashid Khan Monno died at his Manikganj residence early on Tuesday. He was 86.
BNP Chairperson’s media wing official Shairul Kabir Khan told NTV Online Harunur Rashid Khan, who was also the advisor of BNP chairperson, breathed his last due to old age complexities at about 5:00am in his residence at Manikganj’s Monno City.
Earlier, on 22 July, Harunur Rashid Khan was admitted to capital’s Labaid hospital as his physical conditions deteriorated. He returned home on Monday afternoon as he felt better.
Monno, left behind his wife Hurun Nahar, and two daughters— Afroza Khan Rita, and Firoza Mahmud Parvin, and well-wishers.
Harunur Rashid Monno, famed for Monno Ceramic, was one of the members of BNP Chairperson’s advisors’ committee. He was elected as a BNP-backed member of the parliament (MP) for three times from Manikganj-2 in 1991, 1996, and Manikganj-2, and Manikganj-3 in 2001. He was also appointed as a minister without portfolio after winning from two constituencies in 2001.
