Chittagong: Workers of a readymade garment factory at Chandgaon in Chittagong city went on indefinite strike on Tuesday night demanding Eid bonus.

Officer-in-Charge of Chandgaon Police Station M Abul Bashar said the around 2,500 workers of ‘Alfa Textile’ were staging demonstration staying inside the garment factory in the night for Eid bonus.

The agitated workers started the demonstration since Monday demanding outstanding salaries and Eid bonus, said the OC,

Although the factory authorities offered to pay the outstanding salaries, the employees continued their strike for the Eid bonus.

However, no one from the factory management could be connected for comments.

A force of police personnel have been deployed in the area to maintain law and order situation as well as to ward off any untoward incident, said OC Bashar.
