Brahmanbaria: A suspected robber was killed and four police officials were injured in a reported gunfight between his cohorts and police at Tigharia village in Kashba upazila early Saturday.

The identity of the deceased is yet to be known.

Police said some 15/20 masked robbers attacked a patrol team of police around 1 am, prompting the law enforcers to fire back that triggered a gunfight.

At one stage, a masked robber was caught in the line of fire and died on the spot while four police officials suffered injuries, said Mizanur Rahman, superintendent of Brahmanbaria police.

The body was sent to Sadar hospital for autopsy, he added.

Police recovered one pipe gun, three rounds of cartridges and two machetes from the spot.
