Dhaka: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Sunday said the month-long 23th ‘Dhaka International Trade Fair (DITF)-2018’ will help create another opportunity in product diversification and generate a growing interest among local entrepreneurs to improve the quality of their products.

She said the fair will also help the local entrepreneurs become efficient actors to take their local products to the competitive edge in the global market.

The Prime Minister said in a message ahead of the mega trade fair that begins in the city on Monday.

Sheikh Hasina said the foreign participants will also receive a positive message of the country’s trade and investment-friendly environment.

Hasina said the generous trade policy outlines an investment-conducive and business-friendly atmosphere, reports the UNB.

‘We’ve attached top priority to foreign investment and export of commodities. The overall foreign investment and export income have been raised,’ she said.

The Prime Minister said Bangladesh has now turned into an attractive destination for the foreign entrepreneurs, investors and importers.

‘Our efforts have already started yielding results in infrastructure sector. Power production has already increased significantly. We’re constructing the Padma Bridge with our own finance,’ she said.

Hasina said Bangladesh will march forward with a strong decision to meet the need of the country and build ‘Golden Bangladesh’ as dreamt by Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

‘I firmly believe the DITF-2018 will generate keen interest and enthusiasm among local manufacturers and overseas buyers,’ she said wishing ‘Dhaka International Trade Fair-2018’ a grand success.

The Ministry of Commerce and Export Promotion Bureau are jointly organising the month-long DITF-2018.

The Prime Minister said this fair is taking place with a time-befitting approach to get Bangladesh engaged with the knowledge, technology and advancement of today’s world.

‘It’ll facilitate local and overseas consumers to get a first hand familiarity with various new commodities produced locally. It’ll also enable local entrepreneurs to have idea about the foreign products and their styles, colours and the standard, choice and demands of foreign buyers,’ she said.

In his message on the occasion, President M Abdul Hamid said the Dhaka International Trade Fair is not only a place of displaying and trading the products, but it has also become an entertainment centre for the city dwellers.

In addition to displaying products, he said it also plays an important role in building effective relations between domestic and foreign producers, buyer-seller, exporter-importer and investors.

‘I hope DITF will be able to bring efficacy to the local economy through the diversification of products, market expansion and export growth. I hope the DITF’s arrangements will be more attractive through displaying quality goods and services,’ said the President.
