PM to visit Patuakhali, Barisal today

Dhaka: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will visit Patuakhali and Barisal on Thursday for a daylong visit to open ‘Sheikh Hasina Cantonment’ and 54 development projects besides addressing a public rally.
She will also lay the foundation stones of 34 uplift schemes during her visit to the two southern districts of the country.
After arrival in Patuakhali in the morning, the premier will first inaugurate ‘Sheikh Hasina Cantonment’ and join the national standard-raising function of its 11 units at Lebukhali in the coastal.
Sheikh Hasina will also open the 50-bed Diabetic Hospital in Patuakhali, Deuli 10-bed Mother and Child Welfare Centre in Mirjaganj upazila, Sabupura 10-bed Mother and Child Welfare Centre in Baufal upazila, the newly constructed dormitory of the Government Shishu Paribar, Kazi Abul Kashem Stadium, Dashmina Upazila Muktijoddha Complex Building, the West Chakmaia Government Primary School-cum-Cyclone Centre under Kalapara upazila, East Dalbuganj Government Primary School-cum-Cyclone Centre in Kalapara, Hogla Government Primary School-cum-Cyclone Centre, Kalapara Upazila Muktijoddha Complex, Galachipa Muktijoddha Smriti Complex, Digital Publicity Screen at the Office of the Patuakhali Deputy Commissioner and Shaheed Sheikh Kamal Smriti Complex Auditorium.
She will lay the foundation stone of administrative building extension and hall room of Galachipa Upazila Parishad.
From Lebukhali in Patuakhali, the prime minister will go to Barisal and inaugurate and lay the foundation stones of 74 development projects from Bangabandhu Udyan in the divisional city.
The 41 uplift schemes to be inaugurated by her are Birshreshta Shaheed Mohiuddin Jahangir Academic Bhaban, Birshreshtha Shaheed Sepoy Mohammad Mostafa Kamal Academic Bhaban, Shaheed Abdur Rab Serniabat Central Library, Bangabandhu Hall, Sheikh Hasina Hall and Sher-e-Bangla Hall of Barisal University, the newly constructed dormitory building of Barisal Inhabitants, the Factory Inspection Directorate Building, Barisal Divisional and District Shilpakala Academy, District Muktijoddha Complex, Baubuganj Upazila Fire Service and Civil Defence Station, Mehendiganj Thana Complex, Agoiljhara Upazila Muktijoddha Complex, Gournadi Upazila Muktijoddha Complex, Gournadi Upazila Muktijoddha Complex, Pre-Stress Girder Bridge of Harta-Banaripara Border Bridge in Ujirpur upazila, Bakerganj Upazila Muktijoddha Complex, Hijla Upazila Muktojoddha Complex, Muladi Upazila Muktijoddha Complex, 209-meter Girder Bridge over the Nanduhar River under Banaripara upazila, Mehendiganj Upazila Muktijoddha Complex, Ulania-Kaliganj Bridge, Deshratna Sheikh Hasina College Academic Bhaban, 3000-MT Capacity Seed Processing and Store, 2000-MT Capacity Potato Seed Cold Storage, 16 MLD Purification Capacity Surface Water Treatment Plant, 31-bed Mehenfiganj Upazila Health Complex, Divisional Passport and Visa Office, 7-Storey Academic Building of Shaheed Arju Moni Government High School, 7-Storey Academic Building of Shaheed Abdur Rab Serniabat High School, Barisal Engineering College, Four-storey Academic Building of Hizla Degree College, Sanghati Model High School, Four-storey Academic Building of Ulania Mozaffar Khan Degree College, Bangabandhu Auditorium Building, Karapur 10-bed Mother and Child Welfare Centre, Upgradation of Hizla Upazila Health Complex to 50-bed from 31-bed, No 4 Mahilara Union Parishad Complex and Muladi Union Parishad Complex.
The prime minister will also lay the foundation stones of 33 development projects from the same venue.
These include upgradation of Faridpur-Bhanga-Barisal-Patuakhali-Kuakata National Highway to four lanes, Barisal IT Park, Barisal Metropolitan Police Headquarters, Barisal Police Lines, Barisal Police Super Office, Shaheed Abdur Rab Serniabat Textile Institute, the Technical Training Centre, Nursing Hostel adjacent to Barisal Sher-e-Bangla Medical College Hospital, Sheikh Kamal IT Training and Incubation Centre, Shaheed Sukanta Babu Children Park, District Social Service Complex, Shaheed Abdur Rab Serniabat Auditorium, Protection of Charbaria area from the Kirtankhoal River Erosion, construction of a cross dam on Maskata river, the polder rehabilitation programme of Satla-Baghda Project, construction of Goma Bridge on the Rangamati river, 440-meter PC Girder Bridge on Hizla-Ekotar Hat Road and Fire Service and Civil Defence Office.
Before flying back to Dhaka, Sheikh Hasina, also the Awami League president, will address a public rally to be organized by her party at Bangabandhu Udyan in Barisal city as part of her campaign for national polls that started in Sylhet on January 30.
To welcome the prime minister, Barisal city, known as Venice of the East, has been decorated with colourful posters and festoons of Bangabandhu and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
A huge number of archways welcoming Sheikh Hasina have been erected in the divisional city and its surrounding areas.
The authorities have taken foolproof security measures ahead of the visit of the prime minister.
