Dhaka: The Supreme Court on Tuesday cleared way for holding recruitment procedure for different 2,201 posts of state-run Sonali Bank as per the circular issued in 2016.

The four-member bench of the Appellate Division led by Chief Justice Syed Mahmud Hossain came up with the order after rejecting separate leave-to-appeals filed by job seekers against the High Court order.

Lawyer Sheikh Fazle Noor Taposh and Mohammad Mehedi Hasan Chowdhury stood for Sonali Bank and lawyer Abdul Matin Khashru, Kamrul Haque Siddiqui and A M Amin Uddin for the petitioner.

State-owned Sonali Bank issued a circular for 2,201 vacant posts of senior officer, officer and officer (cash) on February 22, 2016.

Later, some 474 job seekers filed a writ with the HC challenging legality of the circular.

After final hearing on July 27 last, the HC rejected their writ.

Later, the writ petitioners filed five separate leave-to-appeals against the HC order.

The SC ordered to stay the recruitment process.

After final hearing today, the court rejected the five leave-to-appeals.

Mohammad Mehedi Hasan Chowdhury said that now there is no bar for holding the recruitment process for the circular of 2,201 posts.
