Dhaka: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Sunday congratulated Xi Jinping on his re-election as the President of People’s Republic of China.

‘I look forward to working in closer partnership with you to further enhance our engagements in all the areas of cooperation and consolidate the bonds of friendship between our two countries,’ she said in a message sent to President Xi Jinping.

Sheikh Hasina said, ‘On behalf of the government and the people of Bangladesh and on my own behalf, I would like to extend our heartiest congratulations and warmest facilitation on your reelection as the President of the Peoples’ Republic of China.’

She said that the reelection of Xi Jingping is the recognition of his dynamic leadership and a clear demonstration of the trust repost on him by the people of China.

‘Bangladesh has observed with great admiration the spectacular economic progress under your wise and visionary leadership.’

The Prime Minister said that Bangladesh deeply appreciate China’s deep interest in and continued support for the socio-economic progress of Bangladesh.

She recalled the milestone visit of Jingping to Bangladesh in October 2016 when the relationship of the two countries was upgraded to strategic partnership of cooperation.

She conveyed her best wishes for continued peace, progress and prosperity of the friendly people of China.
