Dispose of Mamun case in 4 months: SC

Dhaka: The Supreme Court on Thursday ordered the trial court to dispose of within four months a money laundering case against businessman Giasuddin Al Mamun, also a friend of BNP senior vice-chairman Tarique Rahman.
A four-member Appellate Division bench, led by Chief Justice Syed Mahmud Hossain, passed the order after hearing a leave-to-appeal petition filed by Mamun against a High Court verdict rejecting his appeal to cross-examine six witnesses again in the case.
The apex court also allowed his lawyers to cross-examine the six witnesses again.
AJ Mohammad Ali, SM Shahjahan and Sabbir Hamza stood for Mamun while Khurshid Alam Khan represented the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).
The ACC filed the case with Cantonment Police Station in Dhaka on September 22, 2011. The case is now pending with the Special Judge Court-3 of Dhaka.
