Dhaka: The entire country, including capital Dhaka, will experience rain and thunderstorm until Wednesday morning, said Met office.

Arif Hossain, a meteorologist of Dhaka Met office, said that the rain and storm will continue until 10am on Wednesday morning.

Rain accompanied by gusty wind lashed the capital again on Monday morning after a break of several hours. The short-lived rainfall inundated roads in some areas including Malibagh, Mouchak and Siddhershawari, Dhanmondi, Farmgate and Mirpur, reports the UNB.

The gusty wind with thunderstorm is blowing packing a speed of 60-80kpp, he said.

Three spells of rain in the capital on Sunday following a nor’wester earlier in the morning inundated many areas, causing troubles to commuters in their movement.

Fourteen people were killed and four others injured in lightning strikes in Sirajganj, Sunamganj, Magura, Noakhali, Brahmanbaria, Naogaon and Rangamati districts on Sunday.

Meanwhile, Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Authority (BIWTA) suspended operations of all types of water vessels across the country.

Launch and ferry services on Paturia-Daulatdia route in the Padma river have been also suspended for bad weather.

Under the influence of severe thunderstorm activity heavy (44mm-88mm) to very heavy (>89mm) rainfall with gusty/squally wind is likely to occur at places over Rajshahi, Rangpur, Dhaka, Meymensingh, Sylhet, Khulna, Barisal and Chattogram divisions during the next 48hrs commencing 10:30am today, said a bulletin of met office.
