Female college teacher, bank officer found dead in Faridpur
Faridpur: Police recovered the bodies of a female college teacher and a bank officer from a flat of a house at Dakhshin Jhiltuli of the district town on Sunday night.
The deceased are Sajia Begum, in his thirties, an assistant professor of Home Economics Department of Govt. Sarda Sundory Mohila College, and Faruk Hossain, around 36 years old, from Agargaon area in the capital, and auditor of Principal office of Sonali Bank in Faridpur. The victims used to live in separate flats on the ground floor of the house.
On information by house owner Nur Islam, a team of police recovered the bodies and sent those to Faridpur Medical College Hospital for autopsy, said AFM Nasim, officer-in-charge of Faridpur Kotwali Police Station.
David Hasan, son of the house owner, said he found the door of the bank officer’s flat open on his return home around 11:00pm.
He said when he peeped through the door, he found Faruk’s body hanging from a fan while that of teacher’s lying on the floor in a pool of blood.
They later informed police.
David also said college teacher Sajia, a mother of two sons, rented her flat one year ago, while the bank officer barely a month ago.
Sajia, hailing from Bania Nagar under Sutrapur thana in the capital, used to live in her flat with her two sons as her husband, Sheikh Shahidul Islam, lives in Dhaka.
Shahidul, who is in Faridpur for the last two days, said he contacted his wife last at 4pm on Sunday and she told him that she would return home soon from her duty at an HSC examination centre. But, she did not return.
Shahidul said he then informed her colleagues about it and filed a general diary with the Kotwali Police Station.
Jamal Pasha, additional superintendent of Faridpur Police, said the victims used to live in separate flats on the same floor of the house. ‘But, it’s not clear how they got together in the same flat. We’ve launched an investigation to unveil the mystery.’
