Why not unified airfare on domestic routes: HC

Dhaka: The High Court on Monday issued a rule asking the authorities concerned to explain as to why they should not be directed to formulate a policy to fix a unified airfare for all domestic routes, stop taking ticket cancellation and other hidden charges.
A High Court bench consisting of Justice Naima Haider and Justice Zafar Ahmed issued the rule following a writ petition filed by Barrister Badruddoza Badal along with Md Shahidullah Islam Shamim, reports the UNB.
Badal said different airlines take different fares on the same route alongside other hidden charges.
As there is no policy or guideline to monitor the airfares, the airlines set fares according to their will, Badal added.
The court has asked the Civil Aviation and Tourism secretary, Civil Aviation Authority Bangladesh and all private aviation companies to respond to the rule within four weeks.
