Anti-drug drives: 253 held in six districts
Law enforcers arrested a total of 253 people during the ongoing drives against drug in Jashore, Faridpur, Cumilla, Sirajganj, Joypurhat and Nilphamari districts in last 24 hours till 6:00pm Friday.
In Jashore, police arrested 81 people including 25 from Kotwali, 19 from Benapole, 8 each from Keshabpur and Manirampur area, said Superintendent of Police Anisur Rahman, reports the UNB.
Police also seized huge drugs including Yaba pills, hemps and bottled liquor from their possession.
In Faridpur, 76 people were arrested from nine upazilas and seized 422 Yaba tablets from their possession, said Superintendent of district police Zakir Hossain Khan.
All the arrestees were sent to jail following the court order, he added.
In Cumilla, 18 people were arrested and huge amount of drugs were also seized.
Nineteen cases were filed with different police stations in the district.
In Sirajganj, at least 14 alleged drug traders were arrested along with arms, ammunitions and drugs from different parts of the district.
In Joypurhat, 30 people were arrested from five upazilas for their alleged involvement in drug trading.
In Nilphamari, members of security forces arrested 34 alleged drug traders and users from different parts in the district.
