HC forms committee over compensation to Rajib’s family

The High Court on Wednesday formed a three-member committee to identify those responsible for the accident and fix compensation to the family of Rajib Hossain who lost his right arm after it got stuck between two buses and later died.
Md Mowazzem Hossain, director of Accident and Research Institute of Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (Buet), will head the committee, reports the UNB.
He will nominate another teacher of the institute as a member and ‘Nirapad Sorok Chai’ chairman Ilias Kanchan will be the other member of the committee.
The High Court bench of Justice Salma Masud Chowdhury and Justice AKM Jahirul Hoque passed the order in line with a Supreme Court directive.
The court also asked the committee to submit its report before it by June 30. The High Court will pass an order on July 4 on this issue.
Earlier on May 22, the Supreme Court asked the High Court to form an independent committee to fix the compensation and find out who’s responsible for the accident.
Rajib Hossain, a student of Government Titumir College, who lost his right hand after it got stuck between two buses at Bangla Motor in the city on April 3, succumbed to his injuries at Dhaka Medical College Hospital on April 17.
On May 8, the HC bench of Justice Salma Masud Chowdhury and Justice AKM Zahirul Hoque issued an order to provide Tk 1 crore as compensation to the family of Rajib Hasan.
