Dhaka: Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid on Monday said new educational institutions will be included in the MPO list though it was not announced in the new budget.

The minister said this while talking to reporters after handing over of two microbuses by Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) to the Prime Minister’s Education Assistance Trust at the secretariat.

Finance Minister AMA Muhith had assured that there will be announcement for new educational institutions in the budget for fiscal year 2018-19 but there was no mention about it in the budget.

Non-MPO private teachers and workers demonstrating in front of the Jatiya Press Club since Sunday, demanding MPO enlistment of their institutions.

‘Many issues were not mentioned in the budget. We’ve already talked to the Finance Minister over MPO. The Prime Minister is also aware of it. We’re now working to include the non-MPO institutions in the MPO list,’ he said while replying to a query from a reporter.

Assuring the protesting teachers and workers of non-MPO institutions about his ministry’s sincerity, he urged them to get back to their work.

Additional secretary of Secondary and Higher Education Department Sohrab Hossain and Managing Director of Prime Minister’s Education Assistant Trust Nurul Karim were present.
