Dhaka attack: Hearing on charge-sheet acceptability Aug 8

Dhaka: A tribunal here will hear on August 8 the acceptability of the charge-sheet in a case filed over the attack on Holey Artisan Bakery in Gulshan in 2016.
Anti-Terrorism Special Tribunal Judge Mujibur Rahamn set the date on Monday and also asked for producing all the accused before the tribunal during the hearing.
Earlier on Sunday, all the documents, including the charge-sheet, of the case filed over the terrorist attack were shifted to the Anti-terrorism Special Tribunal from the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Court of Dhaka.
On July 23, police pressed charges against eight people in the sensational Holey Artisan cafe attack case.
Those charge-sheeted are Jahangir Alam alias Rajib Gandhi, MahmudulHasanMizan, SohelMahfuz, Rashidul Islam alias Rash, BoroMizan, HadisurRahmanSagar, Mamunur Rashid Ripon and Shariful Islam Khaled.
The law enforcers also recommended acquitting former North South University teacher HasnatKarim of the charge.
Hasnat Karim, also a businessman, was rescued along with 12 others during the commando operation at the Holey Artisan Bakery in the city’s Gulshan area on July 2 following a 12-hour hostage standoff.
Twenty-two people—nine Italians, seven Japanese, one Indian, one Bangladeshi-born American and two Bangladeshis—were killed in the terror attack on the restaurant on July 1, 2016.
