Khagrachhari: An activist of the United People’s Democratic Front (UPDF), the Chittagong Hill Tracts-based political group, was shot dead by some miscreants at Manermanush in Dighinala upazila on Friday.

The deceased was identified as Sumanta Chakma alias Sukendu, 28 of the upazila, reports the UNB.

Uttam Chandra Deb, officer-in-charge of Dighinala Police Station, said a group of miscreants entered the house of Sumanta and opened fire on him, leaving him dead on the spot.

Sumanta might have been killed following enmity with his rival group over establishing supremacy, said police.

On information, police recovered the body and sent it to local hospital morgue for autopsy.
