Dhaka: Terming the news on the disappearance of Bangabandhu-1 satellite a rumour, the Information Ministry on Wednesday urged people not to be misguided by it.
The rumour identification and prevention cell of the ministry said social media and online news portals published the news titled ‘Bangabandhu-1 satellite missing’ which is completely a rumour, according to a PID handout, reports the UNB.
French manufacturing company Thales Alenia Space has already handed over the control of the Bangabandhu-1 satellite to Bangladesh and Bangladesh Television (BTV) has successfully been airing different programmes every day using the frequency of the satellite, it said.
On September 4, Bangabandhu-1, Bangladesh’s first geostationary communications satellite, started its experimental operation.
It was launched into the orbit by US space transport company SpaceX on May 12.
