Oikyafront to kick off polls campaign from Sylhet Wednesday
Dhaka: Jatiya Oikyafront, led by Dr Kamal Hossain, is going to kick off its election campaign from Sylhet on Wednesday, reports the UNB.
BNP standing committee member Nazrul Islam Khan came up with the announcement at a press conference after a joint meeting of BNP and Oikyafront leaders at BNP’s Nayapaltan central office.
‘We’ll start our election campaign by offering fateha at the shrines of Hazrat Shahjalal ® and Shah Paran ® on Wednesday,’ he said.
Nazrul said Dr Kamal Hossain, JSD president Abdur Rob, Krishak Sramik Janata League president Kader Siddiqui and some other leaders of their alliance are expected to go to Sylhet to launch the electioneering.
After offering fateha at the two shrines, he said the alliance leaders conduct election campaign in Sylhet city, though the candidates of the alliance informally launched campaign on Monday after the distribution of the election symbol by the Election Commission.
BNP standing committee member Mirza Abbas, Gano Forum executive president Subrata Chowdhury and general secretary Mustafa Mohsin Montu JSD joint general secretary Shaheed Uddin Chowdhury, among others, joined the meeting held with Nazrul Islam Khan in the chair.
