Covid-19: Bangladesh registers 2,928 new cases, 50 more deaths

Bangladesh on Monday recorded  50 more deaths from coronavirus in the last 24 hours, taking the death toll  to 2,668.

Besides, the health authorities reported 2,928 new cases after testing 13,362 samples in the period, bringing the total cases  to 2,07,453.

Prof Dr Nasima Sultana, additional directorate general of Health Services (DGHS), came up with the disclosure at its daily health bulletin broadcast from Mohakhali.

The Health Ministry data shows  1,914 patients have been cured from the infection, putting the total recovery 1,13,556.

The health authorities have tested  10,41,661 samples in the country since the detection of the virus in the country.

Global coronavirus situation

The total number of confirmed Covid-19 cases reached 14.5 million on Monday with over 606,000  deaths, according to the tally of US-based Johns Hopkins University.

Besides, so far 8,134,747 patients recovered from coronavirus globally.

Coronavirus cases were first reported in China in December late last year in Wuhan.

The World Health Organization (WHO) declared it a pandemic on March 11.

It has spread to all corners of the world since then.
