Solar power expo begins in Dhaka

Dhaka: A three-day exposition on solar power and construction materials began in the capital’s Bashundhara Convention City on Thursday.
Housing and Public Works Minister Engineer Mosharraf Hossain inaugurated the exhibition on construction materials while Prime Minister’s Energy Advisor Tawfiq-e-Elahi Chowdhury opened the expo on solar power at a single ceremony.
Over 60 local and Indian companies are taking part in the fair to showcase their products and services in two separate halls of the convention centre.
Local event and exhibition management firm CEMS organised the show, which will remain open for visitors from 10:30 am to 7:30 pm everyday.
Addressing the inaugural function, Engineer Mosharraf Hossain urged the country’s real estate developers to construct apartments with best quality and offer those at affordable prices.
He said Rajuk and other government agencies under his ministry have been developing huge apartments for the middle-income people at affordable prices.
Dr Tawfiq Elahi Chowdhury said the exhibition will help enhance efficiency in the country’s power sector.
The function was also addressed by Power Development Board (PDB) member ATM Zahirul Islam Majumder and FBCCI vice-president Shafiul Islam Mohiuddin.
