You Tube the most visited website in Bangladesh

You Tube, a global video-sharing website, has emerged as the most visited website in Bangladesh leaving search engine Google and social networking site Facebook behind, reveals Alexa, a company that provides commercial web traffic data and analytics.
The information came out today (1 August) as You Tube was found the most visited website in Bangladesh in Alexa ranking.
According to Alexa, You Tube is in the second position in the global rank just after Google.
Viewers from Bangladesh find You Tube as a source of watching television programmes, dramas skipping advertisements. They also find songs and trailers of movies available on the site before their release. Besides, several private television channels have made the scope for viewers to watch those channels live on You Tube.
International Television Channel Ltd. (NTV) is one of the popular private television channels in Bangladesh with a strong platform on You Tube. NTV’s verified You Tube channels have more than 1.13 lakh of viewers, the highest among Bangladeshi television channels. On an average, people watch NTV You Tube channels around 4.6 million minutes (which equals to almost eight years) per day. NTV has also its live streaming channel on You Tube.
Besides live streaming, You Tube allows users to upload, view, rate, share, and comment on videos. People can watch those videos for free. You Tube’s head-quarters is in San Bruno, California, United States. The service was created by three former PayPal employees—Chad Hurley, Steve Chen, and Bangladesh born Jawed Karim—in February 2005. Sensing probable success of the site, search engine Google bought it for US$1.65 billion in 2006. Still Google holds the ownership of the site.
Though generated little revenue in the early years, the online-video unit posted revenue of about $4 billion in 2014, up from $3 billion a year earlier, according to a Wall Street Journal report.
