Bangladesh recognizes top ten start-ups

Dhaka: The government recognised technology start-ups by introducing the 'Bangladesh Start-up Award' on Thursday.
Information and Communication Technology division of the government organised the first ever National Demo Day and award ceremony in association with start-up advocacy organisation, Better Stories, said a press release of ICT division.
The organisers informed the start-ups will be introduced with the investors and international experts alongside according the recognition.
A total of 10 start-ups were awarded including country's best, women initiative and eight divisional top categories.
Besides, the top three winners get chance to showcase prototype at National Demo Day of which winner will represent Bangladesh in the upcoming Techsauce Global Summit.
State Minister for ICT Affairs Zunaid Ahmed Palak handed over the awards as chief guest at an event at Bangabandhu International Conference Centre in the capital.
A dialogue session titled 'Investment in technology sector in Bangladesh: Challenges and Possibilities' was also held here.
A2i Innovation Director Mostafizur Rahman, Grameenphone CEO Peter B Furberg, Star-up Bangladesh Policy Adviser Tina Zabin, Venture Capital and Private Equity Association Bangladesh Secretary General Shawkat Hossain and Uber South Asia Head of Public Policy Sweta Rajpaul Kohli participated while Leveraging ICT project component leader Sami Ahmed moderated the panel while Zunaid Ahmed Palak was in chair.
Access to Information programme of Prime Minister Office, Grameenphone's GP Accelerator and Venture Capital and Private Equity Association of Bangladesh (VCPEAB), UBER, Techsauce Global Summit were the partners of the national level programme.
