Dhaka: Robi Axiata Limited and Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) have unveiled the jersey for the national cricket team on Monday at the Home of Cricket, Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Dhaka.

Ace cricketers Mashrafe Bin Mortaza, Mushfiqur Rahim, Mahmudullah Riyad, Shakib Al Hasan and Rubel Hossain sported the national cricket Team new jersey that contains the logo of the new sponsor for the Tigers, a press release said in Dhaka on Monday.

Speaking on the occasion BCB president Nazmul Hasan Papon said, ‘We are very pleased to have Robi as the sponsor for the national cricket team. I'm sure this association with the country's leading mobile phone brand will help consolidate our country-wide cricket infrastructure which is critical to sustain our current world beating performance.’

Robi managing director Supun Weerasinghe, also chief executive officer, said, ‘We take immense pride in our association with the Bangladesh National Cricket Teams. Robi especially cherishes this partnership as our Tigers are set to take Bangladesh cricket to the next level. It is a privilege to join our customers and fellow countrymen in their passion for Cricket and the quest for continued excellence on the international arena. We intend to work closely with the BCB for the development of cricket in the country over the next two years.’

Robi chief operating officer Mahtab Uddin Ahmed said, ‘The Tigers have proved time and again what can be achieved when we come together igniting our power within. Our national cricket team has always been an inspiration for us with regards to facilitating individual and societal empowerment through quality telecom service. In this context, BCB and Robi share the same winning traits.’

BCB chairman of marketing & commercial committee Kazi Inam Ahmed said, ‘BCB is very excited to work with a young and vibrant brand like Robi. Robi's youthful exuberance nicely complements the competitive spirit of the national cricket team. We look forward to work with Robi for the continued development of cricket in the country.’

Robi emerged as the new sponsor of the Bangladesh national cricket team for the next two years starting next June.

The media agency Top of Mind has assigned the sponsorship right to Robi. This was disclosed at a press conference held on 21 May 2015 at the Home of Cricket in Mirpur.

The agreement allows Robi to have the right to sponsor the national cricket team, under-19 team and Bangladesh A-team. However, Robi's sponsorship right in this regard will not cover the tournaments organised by International Cricket Council (ICC).

BCB vice-chairman Mahbubul Anam; media & communication committee chairman Mohammad Jalal Yunus; cricket operations committee chairman Naimur Rahman Durjoy and CEO Nizamuddin Chowdhury were present at the jersey unveiling event.
