Sri Lanka: Airport authorities said on Sunday that they have issued the highest level of threat to all airports both domestic and international in Sri Lanka following a spate of blasts this morning.

Civil Aviation Director General H.M.C. Nimalsiri told Times Online that while all domestic flights have been suspended for the time being the authorities have raised the level of threat to the highest to all airports in the country, reports the sundaytimes.lk.

He noted that in this respect even the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) has been provided additional level of security measures with more checks on passengers entering the facility and stated that they needed to come earlier than normal at least four hours ahead of leaving.

All flights have also been subject to stringent regulations as well, Nimalsiri said adding that security forces personnel have been also stationed both inside and outside the airport.
