Lakshmipur: Miscreants have poisoned fish worth Tk 5 lakh to death in two ponds in Hasandi area of Sadar upazila.

Police and locals said one Mizanur Rahman had been cultivating fish in the two ponds after taking out a lease on those.

Locals found fishes of different species floating in the ponds on Saturday morning.

The victim said local terrorists had long been threatening him to harm him over previous enmity. ‘They poisoned the fish to death on Friday night,’ he said.

Sadar police officer-in-charge M Abdullah Al Mamun said they visited the spot and legal action will be taken after investigation.
