How Suraiya penned success with her feet
Sherpur: A girl with severe physical disability named Suraiya Zahan of Andharia Sutipar village in Sadar upazila came out successful in this year’s Secondary School Certificate (SSC) and equivalent examinations.
Daughter of Safir Uddin, a super of Sutirpar Dakhil Madrasha, Suraiya appeared for her SSC exam from Andharia High School in the upazila and obtained GPA of 4.11.
Born as a handicapped girl, Suraiya had great interest in study. She used her feet for writing and other household works as she could not do anything by her hands. Besides, she can’t move her neck. But nothing could daunt her.
In fact, she almost expressed a touch of disappointment when talking to our correspondent, saying ‘I expect much more but I’m happy with the result.’
Asking about her aim, Suraiya said she will be self-reliant following higher study and she had a dream to be a government official.
Safir Uddin said the family is happy with the result and the teachers of her school also helped for her success.
Earlier in the day, the results of this year’s Secondary School Certificate (SSC) and its equivalent examinations were published across the country on Sunday showing 77.77 pass percentage under the 10 educational boards.
