Jessore: Police recovered hanging body of a housewife at Pachakari village in Manirampur upaizla of Jessore on Thursday night.

The deceased is Champa Karmakar, 22, wife of Sanjay Karmakar of the village.

Quoting local people, police said Biswajit, a servant of the house, saw the body of Champa hanging from the ceiling when peeped into the room through the window around 9.00pm.

On information, police recovered the body at night.

Nehalpur police camp in-charge Goutam Mandal said she was gagged and her hands were tied.

However, no one was arrested as the inmates of the house went into hiding.

Champa’s brother alleged that the in-laws of her sister killed her brutally and hanged the body there.

Local people said the first wife of Karmakar had committed suicide by pouring kerosene on her body three years back while Champa was the second wife of Sanjay.
