Idol damage sparks protest
Natore: Hindu devotees incensed at the damage of six idols, including that of deity Durga at a local temple, took to the streets in Gurudashpur upazila headquarters and registered protest blocking roads at some points on Friday.
The incident happened on the very day of immersion of Durga idols.
Chitta Ranjan Saha, president of Zila Puja Udjapon Parishad, said a group of masked miscreants swooped on the Chanchkoir Kacharibari Kali Mandir (temple) and damaged the six idols early Friday, the day of immersion of the idols.
