Chittagong: A class-two student was killed when a Chittagong bound bus knocked her while she was crossing the road on Dhaka-Chittagong Highway under Sitakundu upazila of Chittagong this morning.

Police said the dead was identified as Sumiya, 8.

The girl received serious head injuries after the Chittagong bound bus knocked her near Tery Ayeel Government Primary School at 10:00am on Sunday.

Locals brought the victim to Chittagong Medical College Hospital but the attending doctors declared her dead.

Police detained the bus but its driver escaped.
