Munshiganj: Miscreants vandalised an idol of Hindu goddess Laxmi at a temple in Coatgah village in Sirajdijkhan upazila of Munshiganj on early Friday.

Nagen Das, president of the temple committee, said Mrs Momo, a resident of the village, noticed the vandalised Laxmi idol at about 1:00am.

Later, Nagen informed police about the incident.

Panic engulfed the Hindu community of the locality following the incident.

Sirajdijkhan police officer-in charge Yeardous Hasan confirmed the incident.

Police is trying to find out and arrest the criminals, the OC added.
