Shimulia-Kawrakandi ferry plying resumes
Munshiganj: Ferry service on the Shimulia-Kawrakandi route resumed on Friday morning after four hours of its disruption due to dense fog, reports United News of Bangladesh.
Abdul Alim, manager of BIWTC in Shimulia ferry terminal, said they kept suspended ferry service and plying of water vessels from 4am to 8am due to blurred visibility for dense fog.
Eight ferries with a large number of vehicles and passengers lay anchored in the middle of the Padma River, causing immense suffering to the passengers.
Several hundred vehicles were kept waiting on both sides of the river for crossing.
However, ferry service resumed at about 8:00 am as fog disappeared after the sunrise.
