Uncle, nephew killed in clash over land dispute in Noakhali
Noakhali: Two people were killed and seven others, including a woman, injured in a clash between two rival groups at Purbo Shibpur village at Sadar upazila in Noakhali on Friday afternoon over a land-related dispute.
The deceased are Ibrahim, 54, son of Mohammad Idris, and Ibrahim’s nephew Alauddin, 18, son of Siraj Miah of the village, says a UNB report.
Sudharam police officer-in-charge Anwar Hossain said there had been a longstanding dispute between Ibrahim and his brother Siraj Miah over the ownership of a piece of land at the village.
The clash ensued between the two families on Friday noon as Alauddin along with his family members obstructed Ibrahim from cultivating the disputed land.
At one stage, the both groups equipped with homemade weapons attacked each other that left nine people injured, the OC said.
The injured were taken to Noakhali General Hospital where doctors declared Ibrahim and Alauddin dead.
The injured are Rafiq, 30, Rahim 30, Rajib 20, Salauddin, 26, Mohammad Harun, 35, Gora Gazi, 35, and Jesmin Akhter, 42, of the village.
Meanwhile, police arrested four people in connection with the incident. Noakhali superintendent of police Ilias Sharif visited the injured at the hospital.
