5 of a family burnt in septic tank explosion
Dhaka: Five members of a family suffered burn injuries in a fire that broke out due to a septic tank explosion at a residence in capital’s Dakkhinkhan area in the early hours of Tuesday.
The injured are Rumana, her brother Imran, Imran’s wife, Jannat, and their daughters Tasmia, and Monika.
Fire service control room official said three people were injured in a septic tank blast at a Dakkhinkhan residence at about 5:00am.
He said local people recovered the injured and took them to hospital before the fire fighters was reached the spot.
The floor and roof of the room, where the septic tank was set, have been damaged due to the explosion, said the fire service official.
Dhaka Medical College police post in-charge said five burnt people were admitted to the hospital’s burn unit.
DMCH resident surgeon Partha Shankar Paul said 10-years-old Monika sustained 20 per cent burn injuries while Rumana received 60 per cent burn injuries.
