DU VC wants govt to sever ties with Pakistan
Dhaka: Dhaka University Vice-Chancellor AAMS Arefin Siddique on Monday urged the government to break all diplomatic ties with Pakistan for its derogatory remarks over the executions of two war crime convicts of Bangladesh.
He also said the United Nations should expel Pakistan for violating international diplomatic norms.
The vice-chancellor came up with the demand while speaking at a programme on Monday night organised by Sector Commanders Forum, Liberation War 71 at Aparajeya Bangla to welcome the victory month December.
Leaders of SFC and other speakers thanked the government for the executions of the war criminals, reports a local news agency.
SFC Chairman Major General (retd) KM Shafiullah, joint secretary Abul Kalam Azad Patwary, senior vice-president Lieutenant General M Harun-Ar-Rashid, were among others, present during the programme.
Earlier, Pakistan criticised Bangladesh government after the executions of Jamaat-e-Islami General Secretary Ali Ahsan Muhammad Mojaheed and BNP leader Salauddin Quader Chowdhury on charge of committing crimes against humanity during Bangladesh-Pakistan war in 1971.
