BNP-Jamaat carried out genocide: PM
Dhaka: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said the BNP-Jamaat alliance carried out genocide in the country in the name of so-called movement and it is impossible for anybody to accept such heinous acts.
Sheikh Hasina said the BNP-Jamaat terrorists have created a horrific situation across the country in the name of their so-called movement.
The Prime Minister made the remark while addressing as the chief guest at the inaugural ceremony of the 4th International Conference on Plastic Surgery at Pan Pacific Sonargaon Hotel in Dhaka on Thursday morning.
“The movement is not working and being effective as the people are not responding to it. That’s why they (BNP-Jamaat) are creating panic among the people by hurling petrol bombs at them,” she said.
The Society of Plastic Surgeons of Bangladesh (SPSB) has arranged the four-day conference.
Health Minister Mohammad Nasim and State Minister for Health Zahid Maleque were present at the function as the special guests.
SPSB President Dr Samanta Lal Sen, Secretary of the Ministry of Health Syed Monjurul Islam, SPSB Secretary General Dr Md Abul Kalam and Chairman of the Conference Organizing Committee Prof Brig Gen (retd) Anjan Kumar Deb also spoke on the occasion.
Sheikh Hasina said the conference is being held at a time when a political alliance is killing innocent people including children and pregnant women through petrol bombs in order to achieve their narrow political gain.
“The dreadful situation the BNP-Jamaat has created is very inhuman. A human being can kill another human being by burning, we never thought it. But BNP-Jamaat clique is continuing committing such crimes,” she said.
She said over 100 people have been killed and hundreds are maiming in the burn units of different hospitals due to their petrol bomb attacks.
The Prime Minister said there were movements and struggles in the country in the past. But those movements were staged for the welfare of the people.
Sheikh Hasina said the journey of plastic surgery was started in the country soon after the independence with the initiative of the Father of the Nation as he brought US Orthopedic Surgeon Dr R J Gurst and Indian Plastic Surgeons to provide medical treatments to the war wounded freedom fighters.
