4 cops hurt in gunfight with robbers in Sylhet; 3 held
Sylhet: Police arrested three robbers following a gunfight in Lalargaon area of Sadar upazila in Sylhet on early Friday, leaving six people, including four cops, injured.
The injured policemen are assistant sub-inspectors Sadeque and Jamal and two constables Borhan and Muslim of Jalalabad Police Station, reports United News of Bangladesh, a local news agancy.
Jalalabad police officer-in-charge Akhter Hossain said a team of police conducted a drive at the house of ‘Amir Dakat’ in the area at about 5:45am.
Sensing the presence of the law enforcers, the bandits swooped on them and opened fire on them, prompting policemen to fire back that left two robbers injured.
Later, police arrested bullet-hit ringleader Amir and his associate Amin from the spot while the others managed to flee.
Following information gleaned from Amir, police conducted another drive in Mollargaon area and arrested a convicted robber Asan Miah.
