Bandarban: A teenage girl was killed and four people went missing at Dalianpara in Ruma upazila on Sunday following landslides triggered by heavy rains.

The deceased was identified as Chingmanu, 16, daughter of Mongshoihla and a class X student of Bangalhalia High School of the upazila.

Officer-in-charge of Ruma Police Station Shariful Islam said when a bus was heading towards Ruma upazila from Bandarban, a portion of a hill collapsed on the road around 10am disrupting vehicle movement on the road.

As the bus passengers tried to cross the road on foot another chunk of mud fell on them, leaving five people missing.

A team of army, fire service and local people conducted rescue operation immediately after the incident and rescued three people, the OC added.

Later, they retrieved Chingmanu's body in the afternoon, the OC added.
