Rajshahi: Two students went missing as a boat sank in the Padma River at Thanpur Kheyaghat in Bagha upazila of Rajshahi on Friday.

The deceased are Sabuj Ali, around 18 years old, a class XI student of Durudia College and son of Mantu of Sultanpur village and Manirul 14, a class X student of Thanpur High School and son of Chander Ali of Chandur area of the upazila, reports UNB.

Local people said a boat carrying around50 passengers capsized in the middle of the river around 6:30am.

All but the two boys managed to swim ashore.

The victims met the tragic accident while going to Kheyaghat area for harvesting jute.

On information, the divers from Lalpur Fire Service Station went to the spot for carrying out salvage operation.
