The inauguration of the solo painting exhibition of artist Nargis Poly titled ‘The Skin of a Living Thought’ has begun at La Galerie of Alliance Française de Dhaka . The inaugural ceremony was held at 6:00pm on 4 August.
Eminent artist Mustafa Manwar was present at the event as the chief guest. Prof Dr Syed Monzoorul Islam, academic and writer joined the programme as the guest of honour while architect and urbanist Dr Adnan Morshed also attended as the special guest.
Nargis Poly’s paintings bear in mind the conviction that the essence of a painting can vary greatly in colour and content from one viewer’s perspective to another’s. Poly wants to call it, ‘unfolding the skin of a living thought’. Her inquisitive mind explores diverse creative and intellectual avenues never retracting from experimenting in her own style.
Accordingly, the paintings avow Poly’s analytical mind as well as her artistic ethos. She never loses sight of the snowball effect of paintings pre-empting corruption and social injustice. And with a clear understanding of the surroundings, her subject choices along with the media selections become coherent to the observer.
The exhibition will be open to all until 16 August from Monday to Thursday from 3:00pm to 9:00pm, Friday and Saturday (9:00am to12:00 noon and 5:00pm to 8:00pm), except for Sundays.
