Mymensingh: Three people, including a college student, were killed and 40 others injured in a road accident in front of Bhaluka Degree College in Bhaluka upazila on Dhaka-Mymensingh highway on Monday night.

One of the deceased was identified as Atiqul Haque, an HSC second year student of Bhaluka Degree College.

Sayed Nurul Islam, superintendent of Mymensingh district police, said a Dhaka-bound Shyamoli Bangla Paribahan bus from Haluaghat hit a trolley at around 7:00 pm and it turned turtle as its driver lost control over the steering, leaving one killed on the spot and 42 others, including two pedestrians, critically injured.

Locals rescued the injured and sent them to Mymensingh Medical College and Hospital (MMCH).

Two pedestrians who sustained injuries died on way to hospital.

On information, police recovered the bodies and sent them to hospital morgue for autopsy.

Some 20 injured were admitted to MMCH, the SP added.
