Habiganj: Two people were killed and five others injured in a road accident in Hafizpur area on Dhaka-Sylhet highway under Bahubal upazila of the district on Wednesday morning.

Identities of the deceased could not be known immediately.

Shaestaganj highway police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Jasimuddin said the accident occurred around 6:00am when the Sylhet-bound cement laden truck collided head-on with a pickup van in the area, leaving two persons dead on the spot and five others injured.

The injured were admitted to Bahubal Upazila Health Complex.

Police rushed to the spot and recovered the bodies, the OC added.
