Three members of a family died from electrocution and two others sustained injuries while traveling by a boat in Chalan beel in Chatmohar upazila of Pabna on Sunday afternoon.

The deceased were identified as Afzal Hossain, 45, of Ranigram village in Sadar upazila, his brother Anowar Hossain, 40, a teacher of Tebunia Shamsul Huda Degree College and his son Shohan, 11, reports the UNB.

Md Shariful Islam, Inspector (Investigation) of Chatmohar Police Station said some 15/20 members of a family hired a boat from Chaikola area of the upazila at noon for travelling.

Five members of the family who were sitting on the roof of the boat came in contract with a live electric wire and fell into the waterbody around 3:00pm.

Later the boatmen and the family members rescued two of them from the waterbody.

Later, three bodies were recovered from the waterbody after one hour frantic search, said the SI.
