Bus-covered van collision leaves 6 dead in Narsingdi

Narsingdi: Six people were killed and 20 others injured in a head-on collision between a bus and a covered van at Kandail on Dhaka-Sylhet highway in Madhabdi upazila on Wednesday morning.

The deceased are Sumi Begum, about 16 years old, Hena Begum, about 24 years old and Rabiullah, about 18 years old, of Monohardi upazila in Narsingdi, Mokhles Mia, about 55 years old, and Abdul Kadir, about 40 years old, of Kuliar Char of Kishoreganj and Abdur Rahman, about 48 years old, driver of the covered van.

Illias, Officer-in-charge of Madhabdi police station, said the Dhaka-bound bus coming from Monohardi of Narsingdi collided with the Bhairab-bound covered van and then both the vehicles fell into a roadside ditch around 7:00 am, leaving four people dead on the spot and 22 others injured.

Among the injured, Mokhles Mia died on way to Narsingdi Sadar Hospital while Abdul Kadir on way to Dhaka for treatment.
