Man dies after having phuchkas at roadside shop
Gazipur: A young man died and four other fell ill after having phuchkas at a roadside shop in Gazipur’s Sripur.
The deceased is Kishore Kumar Shadhok, in his twenties, a resident of the village of Lakshmipur at Rajabari union of Sripur.
The ill persons are Noni Gopal Das, Tushar Das, residents of village of Lakshmipur, Kartik Chandra Barai, and Raz Chandra Barai, residents of village of Gidharia. All of them are in their twenties.
Kishore Kumar died after he was taken to Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmed Medical College in Gazipur on Saturday. The ill people were shifted to Cholera Hospital in Dhaka’s Mohakhali.
The Sripur Model Police Sub-inspector (SI) Nazmul Sakib quoting local people said Kishore Kumar along with his four friends went to visit a Durga Puja mandap at Bouragi area of Gidhoria on Thursday afternoon. They had phuchkas at mobile shop near the Puja mandap and fell ill. Later, they suffered from vomiting and diarrhoea. Their condition deteriorated even though they took primary treatments at home.
SI said five of them were taken to Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmed Medical Hospital, where Kishore Kumar died undergoing treatment. Later, four men were shifted to Dhaka for better treatment.
However, Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmed Medical College Hospital’s resident physician Pronoy Bhushan Das said Kishore Kumar died before he was brought to the hospital.
